"I've been talking with the Nasdaq (NASDAQ:NDAQ) stock exchange about moving some of their operations to Texas," tweeted Texas Governor Abbott overnight. "They want to flee higher taxes."
Sources say the discussions involve a move for Nasdaq's electronic trading systems from New Jersey to Dallas-Fort Worth. Texas isn't alone in trying to lure Nasdaq from the Garden State - several other states are reportedly in talks with the exchange operator.
His state's finances under a good deal of pressure, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy is mulling a financial transaction tax.
