Texas Ranks Among the States With the Worst Drivers

As lockdowns in some states ease but air travel may still seem risky, roadtripping has become a popular option for Americans looking to get out of the house this summer. In fact, recent data from popular vacation rental sites show an uptick in bookings for destinations within driving distance.

Data indicates that drivers are more irresponsible in some states than others, so some people may want to exercise additional caution as they hit the road.

In a new study, SmartAsset identified the states with the worst drivers by analyzing metrics including DUI arrests per 1,000 drivers, fatalities per 100 million vehicle miles driven and the percentage of insured drivers. 

Texas ranks in the top 10 states with the worst drivers. The Lone Star State ties with South Carolina in the seventh spot. To see how all 50 states stack up, check out the table below.
