Texas State Representative Kyle Biedermann is not letting his constituents and community suffer supply shortages amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Serving District 73 (which encompasses Comal, Gillespie and Kendall counties), the Representative also owns Beidermann’s ACE Hardware in Fredericksburg, Texas. There, he installed a device from local manufacturer R-Waterto produce hundreds of gallons of multi-purpose cleaner FC+ and TK60, a hypoallergenic healthcare-grade disinfectant proven effective in eliminating COVID-19.
R-Water is regulated by the EPA as a device and named in the same category as UV robots, so you won’t find TK60 on the EPA’s N-List. Because of this regulatory classification, Representative Biedermann cannot bottle and sell TK60. However, at a time when many store shelves are empty and customers are relegated to paying exorbitant prices for inferior and often harmful disinfectants and cleaners, he has been happy to provide R-Water’s products free of charge to protect his community.
Representative Biedermann said, “It is so important for our community members to have safe, swift-acting disinfectants for home use. R-Water’s system can make 300 gallons of the disinfectant, TK60, per day. That can protect a lot of families and businesses, especially now, when cases are on the rise. We are also using this as an opportunity to teach people about contact times and the negative health effects of many products being used in their homes. The chemical industry needs to change and the solutions produced by R-Water’s device are providing that change.”
R-Water is environmentally friendly and committed to protecting the state’s valuable water resources from pollution, a passion equally shared by Representative Biedermann. Producing solutions for cleaning and disinfection on-site eliminates the need for storage and mixing of hazardous chemicals, as well as the disposal of empty toxic containers. In addition, R-Water’s solutions are hypoallergenic and eliminate the need for multiple disinfectants, sanitizers, deodorizers, and surface-specific cleaners.
After reviewing impressive reports from EPA and FDA regulated third party testing laboratories, as well as the Texas Department of the Aging and Disabled, the City of Austin began using R-Water solutions in 2018. Eric Herman, Public Services Manager for Austin stated, “R-Water's technology works better and faster than anything we've ever used before. It is healthier for our staff and it protects us from COVID-19. In addition, we’re reducing our spend on cleaning and disinfection products by 54% and this technology is directly in line with our city’s sustainability goals.”
