Mike Bennett
Mike Bennett, MSN, NE-BC, has been named chief nursing officer at The Menninger Clinic, the nationally ranked psychiatric hospital. A 34-year employee of Menninger, Bennett most recently served as the interim chief nursing officer since September 2018.
“Through his expertise, leadership and passion for quality patient care, Mike has made many significant contributions to Menninger, which is why we are so pleased to announce his appointment as chief nursing officer,” said Tony Gaglio, interim president and CEO of Menninger. “Menninger’s executive team appreciates the history, wisdom and commitment Mike brings to our organization.”
Among his accomplishments, Bennett recently led the implementation of an innovative electronic health record system at Menninger that is creating efficiencies for patient care services. During his tenure at the psychiatric hospital, he has served in various roles, including nurse manager with Menninger’s Compass Program, a specialty inpatient treatment program for young adults ages 18-30. In this role Bennett led the development of Menninger’s forthcoming emerging adult service line, which will build upon Compass’ current programing. He has also served as a nurse manager for Menninger’s Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder program, and as an evening shift supervisor and a mental health associate.
“I’m very honored to continue my career with Menninger and support our dedicated nursing staff in continuing to deliver outstanding patient care,” said Bennett. “Having began my career with Menninger back in Topeka, I’ve seen firsthand how our dedicated clinicians impact a patient’s treatment journey and their overall mental health so I’ll always be proud to be a part of the Menninger team.”
Earlier this year Bennett completed his nurse executive board certification, adding to his existing board certification in psychiatric-mental health nursing. He received his master’s degree in nursing administration from Chamberlain School of Nursing and Bachelor of Science degrees in nursing and psychology / sociology from Washburn University and Benedictine College, respectively.
