Pharos Capital Acquires ABA of North Texas

11/29/18

Pharos Capital Group, LLC, through its Family Treatment Network platform, has acquired ABA of North Texas, an outpatient autism services provider based in Plano, TX, the firm announced today. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“Pharos is committed to expanding our portfolio of behavioral health companies, and we are delighted when we find a fit as harmonious as this one,” said Bob Crants, Partner at Pharos. “With its early childhood focus, ABA of North Texas will build on the services offered by sister FTN company Behavior Care Specialists and will further strengthen our ability to offer the applied behavior analysis model of autism treatment.” ABANT and Behavior Care Specialists together offer autism services across seven states: Colorado, Connecticut, Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming.

ABA of North Texas provides high quality behavioral services for children and adolescents with autism and other developmental disabilities. Founded in 2012, the company has 33 employees and serves over 70 children across two offices in Plano and McKinney. Founder and CEO Susan Krejci, a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst and certified special education teacher, and her team will continue to provide services under the ABANT name.

Ed Irby, a longtime behavioral health and special education executive who serves as CEO and Chairman of the FTN platform, said, “ABA of North Texas is an important addition to the FTN network. The need for specialized autism services is enormous and growing, and we believe near-term expansion opportunities exist both in their home market of north Texas and into neighboring Oklahoma.”

Alison Hulshof, Chief Executive Officer of Development & Operations of BCS, added, “Children and adolescents are receiving proven benefits from ABANT’s therapy, and we are proud to join up with Susan and her team who have a strong reputation for quality and caring treatment.”

Ms. Krejci commented, “We are thrilled to be working with FTN and Pharos. They clearly share our vision of providing caring, high quality treatment services to children and their families, and their resources will be invaluable in ensuring greater access for those who need services like ours.”

Pharos established its Family Treatment Network platform in 2015 to manage its investments in special schools, psychiatric residential treatment centers and community-based programs for children, adolescents and their families. In addition to ABANT, Family Treatment Network now includes Logan River Academy, a Logan, Utah-based adolescent treatment center; BCS, a South Dakota-based outpatient treatment provider of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) services; and Solterra Academy, a special education day school in Connecticut.
