Weaver Announces Audit Services Leadership Changes

Weaver, the largest independent accounting firmbased in the Southwest,announcesleadership changes in audit services to bolster the firm’s continued growth, develop talent andcontinue to drive client service.

Effective June 1, 2018, Shawn Parkeris promoted to partner-in-charge of firmwide audit services. Reporting to Parker, Dale Jensenis promoted to partner-in-charge of audit services in the North Texas Region;Colby Warrispromoted to partner-in-charge of audit services in the South Texas Region and Kevin Sanford, in addition to his new role as partner-in-charge of national financial services industry practice, is promoted to partner-in-charge of alternative investment fund audit services.

“These changes will provide additional leadership for our firm’s overall assurance practice and allow us to continue the achievement of our vision and strategy,” said David Rook, CPA and chief operating officer for Weaver’s assurance and advisory services. “Shawn will work with the regional audit leaders and me to drive growth, recruit and develop talent, manage audit quality and risk, and oversee this practice.”

Shawn Parker, CPA

Partner-in-Charge, Audit Services

Parker, who offices in Dallas,joined Weaver as a senior auditorin 1997 and was named partner in 2005.He moves into the new position from his previous role ofleadingassurance services in Weaver’s North Texas Region and was responsible for the overall growth and strategy of the audit practice, as well as recruiting and developing the firm’s audit professionalsin Dallas and Fort Worth. Parker primarily focuses on auditing and accounting for, employee benefit plans, closely held businesses, nonprofit organizations, municipalities and school districts. Parker also works with estates and trusts, manufacturing and distribution, construction and health care companies. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA). Parker earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Dale Jensen, CPA, CFE

Partner-in-Charge, North Texas Audit

Jensen, who offices in Dallas, joined Weaver as a senior associate in 2002 and was named partner in 2009. Hehas around 20years of experience in public accounting and moves to his new position from his previous role as the partner-in-charge of Weaver’s public company audit practice and the oil and gas industry practice. As the leader of Weaver’s oil and gas services, Jensen remained on the forefront of industry regulations and changes. He has extensive experience providing assurance services within the industry, with a specific focus on the upstream and midstream sectors. In addition, he has in-depth knowledge of the nuances of public company audits. As leader of this practice, he provided consulting services to U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) registrants including implementation of new accounting standards and review of required SEC filings. Jensen’s diverse knowledge of industry standards and best practices allows him to provide high-quality, comprehensive services to his clients.He frequently authors articles for professional and business publications, providing valuable industry insights. Jensen isactive in AICPA, TSCPA and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from Southern Arkansas University.

Colby Warr, CPA

Partner-in-Charge, South Texas Audit

Warr, who offices in Houston, joined Weaver as a senior manager in 2009 and was named partner in 2012. He has more than 19 years of public accounting experience, including nine years with a Big Four firm. Warr concentrates on providing financial statement audits and reviews, consulting services, environmental third-party assurance services and agreed-up procedures specifically for all sectors of the energy industry. With significant experience in mergers and acquisitions, start-up companies, global engagements with group audit requirements, International Financial Report ing Standards (IFRS) conversion and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) integrati on projects, he brings a significant depth of experience to his clients. He is an active local member of the AICPA and TSCPA Houston chapter. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Brigham Young University.

Kevin Sanford, CPA

Partner-in-Charge, Alternative Investment Fund Audit

Sanford, who offices in Dallas/Fort Worth,began his career at Weaver in 2000 and was named partner in 2009. This new position is in addition to him recently joining Weaver’s executive team as the partner-in-charge of the national financial services industry practice. Prior to these new roles, Sanford led Weaver’s financial services industry practice since 2010, providing services to a variety of financial services companies, including approximately 700 investment companies as well as financial institutions, real estate entities, broker-dealers, insurance and endowments, pensions and trusts. He continues to lead the national overall growth and strategy for both of thesenationwide practices. An active member of the Texas Hedge Fund Association, he is also involved with the Southeastern and California hedge fund associations, AICPA and TSCPA. Sanford graduatedcum laudewith a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas Christian University
