October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Eagle’s Trace did its part to increase awareness by hosting a Pink Out Day on October 14.

Residents and employees of the Erickson Living retirement community in West Houston wore pink clothing, stickers, hats and beads.  An afternoon snack featured pink cookies and lemonade with beautiful pink balloons.

Why is this so important to do?  Lisa Hadley, the Community Resources Coordinator at Eagle’s Trace, answers that question.

"Many people have been touched by cancer or know a friend or family who has been. Some are even battling the disease now. Our Pink Out Day lets these people see that they are being supported and cared for by all," said Mrs. Hadley.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease.  People are encouraged to wear pink, the campaign’s color, and educate themselves and share information about the disease.

Written material and videos can be found on the websites of national organizations such as the National Breast Cancer Foundation.  Its mission is to help those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education and support services.
