Texas: San Antonio Ranks as Second Most Affordable City Destination in the USA

10/6/16

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--San Antonio, Texas is one of the most affordable city destinations in the United States. That’s according to the latest survey from CheapHotels.org.

The survey compared the 30 most populous U.S. cities based on their cost of lodging during the current month of October. For comparative purposes, that is the month when most destinations across the country reach their highest average rates.

At an average overnight price tag of only $94 for its most affordable double room, San Antonio ranks as the nation’s second least expensive destination overall. It must be pointed out that the survey considered only centrally located hotels with a 3-star rating or higher.

In contrast, Nashville, Tennessee and Boston, Massachusetts lead the ranking at average nightly rates of $261 and $257, respectively. Rock bottom is the gambling capital of Las Vegas, Nevada. Averaging just $63 per night for its most affordable double room, Sin City comes in last on the survey.

Most expensive in Texas is the state capital of Austin. There an overnight stay will cost a guest an average of $182 per night. Meanwhile, Houston rounds out the Top 10 at an average nightly cost of $172. A bit more affordable are Fort Worth and Dallas, both with average overnight rates of $152.
