Eagle’s Trace Launches Facebook Page

8/2/16

For Donna Craig, checking her Facebook account has become part of her daily routine.

Ms. Craig, 84, has been a resident of Eagle’s Trace retirement community since 2005 and enjoys spending time with her family.   But she understands that life is hectic.

“I’m proud of my two grandsons who are busy with their education and activities.  Facebook allows me to connect with them.  I see their photos, and we trade messages,” said Ms. Craig, who considers herself to be a self-taught user.

The convenience and ease of the social media site makes it ideal for people of all ages, she noted.

“When I served as president of the American Orchid Society, I traveled the world and made many friends.  Facebook allows me to stay in touch with people I met in Asia, Europe and Central America,” stated Ms. Craig.  “You don’t have to worry about time zones when sending notes either.”

Ms. Craig is one of a growing number of residents of the Erickson Living retirement community who use social media for receiving news and keeping up with family and friends.  It is a big reason why Eagle’s Trace launched a new Facebook page this summer, http://facebook.com/EaglesTrace.

“Our residents and customers are more tech-savvy than ever,” stated Pamela Burgeson, Director of Sales.  “The Facebook page for Eagle’s Trace will be an outlet to share news about the campus, the progress of our new independent living building, Amarillo Terrace, and of course, the interesting people who live and work at our community.”

Eagle’s Trace is catering to the tech-set.  In July, the community held a series of instructional—and intergenerational--sessions called “Gettin’ Techy With It.”  It was a role reversal as high school and college students employed in the Dining Services Department shared their expertise with residents who had questions about their computers and mobile devices.

“We certainly live in a digital age in which information is readily available at our finger tips.  Our residents take advantage of it, too,” said Ms. Burgeson.  “Many of our future residents and their families research the internet when it comes to senior living options.  Our Facebook page will be another resource for them.”

About Eagle’s Trace:  Eagle’s Trace is one of nineteen continuing care retirement communities managed by Erickson Living.  Located in Houston, Texas, the scenic 70-acre campus is home to more than 675 residents.  Eagle’s Trace is the ideal greater Houston retirement destination offering a true sense of community, convenience beyond compare and a sensible financial structure.
