The Texas Land Office recently announced that LiV-Connected, a partnership of healthcare, design and architecture experts, has been selected as one of four finalists in a competition to provide state-of-the-art affordable disaster relief housing for the State of Texas.
Founded in 2018, LiV-Connected designs, prototypes, and builds smart modular housing components that are assembled to make homes and multi-family developments, bringing together disparate healthcare technologies to create residences that take care of you.
The Connected Home is a disaster relief housing solution that is made of prefabricated cartridge components that once assembled, make a home that is significantly larger, better designed and provides a more dignified living experience than the current FEMA trailer. Future iterations of the design are being explored to incorporate integrated health centered technologies including biometric monitoring and immediate physician access, as well as aging in place adaptability through movable and automated elements.

This competition, held by the State of Texas, looked for novel solutions for interim housing following disasters. The Texas General Land Office’s Community Development and Revitalization (GLO CDR) Disaster Recovery Alternative Housing Study gathered, analyzed, and evaluated data related to alternative housing options, including factors such as resiliency, safety, potential for use as permanent housing, cost, and the time required to deploy the housing solution at scale following a disaster. The Study began in early 2020.
LiV-Connected brings together a talented and dedicated cross-disciplinary partnership from multiple sectors, including healthcare, technology, fabrication, design, architecture, and academia. These team members, experts in their respective fields, have undertaken many years of individual and collective investigation into improvements to healthcare delivery, housing design and prefabricated smart construction processes.
