Berkadia today announced the addition of Senior Managing Director Brandon Buell to its Student Housing Group’s investment sales platform. He will be partnering with Senior Managing Director Kevin Larimer.Buell will be based in Berkadia’s Houston, Texas office and will report to SVP and Head of Investment Sales Keith Misner.

Buell joins Berkadia from Newmark Knight Frank’s Student Housing group, where he served as a Managing Director. He was responsible for assisting clients in the disposition of institutional and non-institutional assets and,during his five years tenure, was involved in over $3.5 billion of purpose-built multifamily transactions.

Prior to joining Newmark Knight Frank, Buell was an associate partner at ApexOne Investments Partners, where he facilitated acquisitions, dispositions and asset management for student housing and conventional multifamily assetswithin a 33-state region. He sourced 100 percent of the student housing properties for the fund and managed 75 percent of the student housing portfolio assets, working closely with an array of large student housing joint venture partners including Crow Holdings, Balfour Beatty, and Behringer Harvard.

Buell received his bachelor’s degreein Business Administration from Texas Tech University’s Rawls College of Business.
