Jacob White Construction to Install Proprietary Antimicrobial Touch-Surface Technology in Four Medical Office Buildings

EPA-registered LuminOre CopperTouch kills bacteria and recent study shows inactivation of COVID-19 within four hours on treated surfaces.

Jacob White Construction announced today that the firm plans to install LuminOre CopperTouch antimicrobial touch surface coatings in high-contact areas of four medical office buildings in the Houston, Texas area. The buildings include:

  • 4460 Bissonnet, Bellaire, Texas 77401--- “Bissonnet Medical Plaza”
  • 215 Kingwood Executive Dr., Kingwood, Texas 77339 “Kingwood Medical Plaza”
  • 23510 Kingsland, Katy, Texas 77494 “Katy Medical Plaza I”
  • 23530 Kingsland, Katy, Texas 77494 “Katy Medical Plaza II”

LuminOre CopperTouch has developed state-of-the-art techniques to fuse the patented antimicrobial coating to light weight surfaces in sizes, shapes and contours that are not possible with regular copper. The unique product uses the natural antimicrobial properties of copper without the weight and other features that make solid copper impractical.

The proprietary copper-based coating known as LuminOre CopperTouch is the only EPA-registered antimicrobial product that can be seamlessly applied to most surfaces, making it perfect for households, commercial, medical and other public facilities, to assist those facilities in reducing the incidence of viral and bacterial infections.

Jacob White Construction is the exclusive provider of LuminOre CopperTouch coating technology in Houston and is available to provide estimates and additional information for new clients.

“We’re excited to offer LuminOre CopperTouch antimicrobial touch surfaces to our clients, enabling them to incorporate the natural antimicrobial properties of copper on virtually any surface,” said Jeff Mickler, chief executive officer of Jacob White Construction. “It’s great for elevators, door handles, restrooms and other high-traffic frequently-touched surfaces.”

In the U.S., the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that hospital-acquired infections account for an estimated 1.7 million infections and 99,000 associated deaths each year.

“This innovation is a game-changer for hospitals and other healthcare facilities,” said Dr. Alfred Mitchell, CEO and Medical Director of LuminOre CopperTouch. “As we move into the post COVID-19 environment, this new antimicrobial application will be a significant weapon available to fight the destructive and often deadly impact of these emerging pathogens.”

Houston-based Jacob White Construction has been a leader in the Healthy Building Initiative with the integration of various innovative technologies including CO2/O2 monitoring, Advanced Air filtration systems, enhanced natural lighting, low Volatile Organic Compound materials, and now the latest addition, LuminOre CopperTouch antimicrobial coating.
