New Houston Charter School Signs Lease for August 2018 Opening

2/20/18

JLL today announced Étoile Academy, a new Houston charter school, has signed a 13,850-square-foot lease at 6600 Hornwood Drive in Houston. The tuition-free, college-preparatory charter school will open August 2018. The school plans to grow one grade level per year for the next four years to eventually serve fifth through eighth grade students in an approximately 48,000-square-foot facility.

“This marks an exciting step in making the vision of Étoile Academy a reality,” said Kayleigh Colombero, founder and school director. “We look forward to providing a high-quality middle school option to the Gulfton and Sharpstown communities.”

The school will renovate 6600 Hornwood Drive to make it conducive to an educational setting. Upon completion, it will include laboratory space, art classrooms and a library, in addition to traditional classroom space.

Étoile Academy will operate an extended-day schedule with a focus on literacy, mathematics and financial literacy. The school will also support students in selecting, applying to and transitioning to competitive Houston-area high schools. Étoile Academy is accepting applications for its inaugural class through its website.

JLL’s Lesa French represented Étoile Academy in the transaction. Jonathan Cohen, Sam Hansen and Doug Pack of Avison Young, represented the landlord, Ardenwood Group.
