Jay Blackman, a corporate finance and securities law attorney, has rejoined Vinson & Elkins as counsel in the firm’s Houston office.

Blackman represents private equity investors, their portfolio companies and a variety of public and private companies in connection with mergers, acquisitions, dispositions and strategic investments. He also advises on securities offerings, in addition to general corporate matters.

“Jay is a talented attorney with a solid reputation for providing clients sound advice on complex transactions,” said Matt Strock, co-head of V&E’s Mergers & Acquisitions and Capital Markets practice. “We are pleased to welcome him back to the firm.”

Blackman’s representative experience includes: advising Morgan Stanley Infrastructure in its sale of Southern Star Central Corp., a FERC-regulated interstate natural gas transmission and storage system, to a consortium consisting of affiliates of GE Energy Financial Services and Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec; CenterPoint Properties Trust in all aspects of the development, and approximately $240 million sale to Arc Logistics Partners LP and GE Energy Financial Services, of a crude oil unloading terminal in Joliet, Illinois; and Zenith Energy, an international liquids and bulk terminaling company and Warburg Pincus portfolio company, in its acquisition of the Bantry Bay Oil Terminal in West Cork, Ireland, from Phillips 66.

Blackman received his J.D. degree from Columbia Law School in 2007, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and senior editor of the Columbia Law Review. He returns to V&E from Wilkie Farr & Gallagher LLP.
