ACRP Gathers at Houston’s Junior League to Dedicate Awards and Unveil New Look

Over 100 members and guests of The Association of Commercial Real Estate Professionals (ACRP) gathered at The Junior League of Houston to celebrate the organization’s 30 Year Anniversary. In addition to recognizing ACRP’s founding 10 members, three members received honors for their achievements and community contributions in 2016.

ACRP was Formed in 1987 by a handful of men seeking to create an organization that harnessed connections across multiple facets and disciplines of commercial real estate. Fast forward to 2017, and ACRP now counts among its membership over 100 individual members and companies from virtually every discipline involved in commercial real estate, including: office, industrial, residential, medical, multifamily development and construction projects throughout the Greater Houston MSA.

ACRP’s President, Jason Cooper of Arch-Con Corporation, along with the entire ACRP Board, recognized the ten original founders including:

Robert Key, National Property Consultants; Paul Ikard, Ikard & Co.; Robert Key; Arnie Azios, Jr., The Houston Group/Realty Advisors; Jeff Davis, Davis Commercial Development, LLC; Gary Martin, U.S. Trust; Tom Melody, Jones Lang LaSalle; Jim Murphy, Westchase District; Bryan Burns, Transwestern.

As an organization dedicated to community stewardship, ACRP hosts numerous community service and philanthropic events each year, where members devote their time, efforts, and resources towards making Houston a better community in which to live, work, and play.

I am honored to have been elected to serve as President of an organization that brings together such a diverse group of commercial real estate companies and individuals, who all exhibit leadership and exert a positive influence throughout the industry, and within the Houston community in general, on a daily basis,” says Jason Cooper. “Honoring those amongst our members who selflessly give of their time and talents on top of their own work load, is the least we can do to show our appreciation of their dedication.”

ACRP’s Rising Star Award is bestowed upon the ACRP member that exhibits significant and notable contributions to the organization within their first three years of ACRP membership. Phillip Matthews, Director of Business Development at Stantec, took home this year’s award. His contagious positive attitude, selfless team leadership and overall contributions to the extremely successful 2016 ACRP Golf Classic were recognized.

Randy Young, President and Founder of Terrenova Real Estate Group, was honored with ACRP’s 2016 Trailblazer award. This award is bestowed upon the ACRP member that exhibits exceptional innovation, creative initiative, and improving and/or advancing the long-term vision and strategy of ACRP.

The event’s most notable recognition, the Heart Award, is presented to an ACRP member who, on behalf of the association and its missives, displays leadership, integrity and determination; one who stays the course regardless of adversity. Marty McAdams, owner of McAdams Associates and ACRP member for over two decades, is the 2016 recipient. A non-annual award reserved for the most exceptional and dutiful leaders, this is the first Heart Award to ever be presented throughout ACRP’s 30-year history.

Commemorating the anniversary, ACRP additionally unveiled its fresh, brand new logo as well as a completely new and improved website. For more information or to get involved, visit www.acrp.org.
