Jim Sledzik joins Saudi Aramco Energy Ventures-US LLC (SAEV-US) as Managing Director, heading its North America practice. Aramco’s corporate venture capital fund invests in earlystage and high-growth technology companies of strategic importance to the company.

He will oversee fund investment opportunities that supplement Aramco’s research and development program.

With more than 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, including 10 years in venture capital and private equity investing, Sledzik has led investment, research and engineering teams in developing, patenting and monetizing technologies in markets worldwide.

Previously, as managing director at Hall Labs, he worked on innovative projects related to sustainability and personal transportation. His career spans a range of marketing and technology roles including global marketing and new technology director and vice president of Multi Client Services for geophysical services company WesternGeco and global account director for oil and gas technology provider Schlumberger.

Sledzik earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh and a bachelor’s degree in geosciences from Pennsylvania State University. He is a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), and serves on the advisory board for the Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship at Rice University.

This year SAEV-US’s technology investments included an industrial cyber-security software that uses a blockchain platform and a long-duration energy storage system that holds promise for reliable and dispatchable transmission of renewables such as solar and wind.
