Laura Gibson
Dentons partner Laura Gibson, was recently sworn in as chair of the State Bar of Texas board of directors after having been elected to the position by the board at its meeting on April 27, 2018. The board of directors is the governing body of the State Bar of Texas. The mission of the board is to support the administration of the legal system, assure all citizens equal access to justice, and foster high standards of ethical conduct for lawyers. The board also works to provide information and benefits to its members in an inclusive and transparent manner.
Gibson, a partner in the Employment & Labor practice, has been board-certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization for almost twenty years. She has extensive experience in all aspects of complex litigation and arbitration spanning employment, banking, energy, securities, copyright and communications law.
Gibson took office during the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting held June 21-22 in Houston. She has served on the board of directors since 2016 and was named chair-elect during a board meeting earlier this Spring. She is past-president of the Houston Bar Association, serving in that role from 2015-16.
Gibson earned her JD from University of Houston Law Center and her BS from Texas A&M University.
